Will Ofsted Inspectors attach more significance to independent parent survey results?

I recently spoke to a head who told me he was ordering pupil, parent and staff surveys from us specifically because he believed they did.

He had been to a conference the week before where an Ofsted Inspector made a presentation. The inspector discussed the importance of the views of stakeholders, particularly with reference to the increased emphasis on this in the new inspection framework. His view was that independent surveys had more value as the head had no influence (intentional or otherwise) over the questions (if a standard survey was used) or the results, particularly if an independent written report was provided.

I have to admit I was surprised at first when the head first mentioned this. But it does make more sense when you consider the direction Ofsted is moving in with regards to using independent survey providers to help collate national data.
